As if by Magic

This is a unique idea. A gallery in Palestine is currently showing the work of 26 leading contemporary artists but have not had any of the work transported to the actual venue. What they have done is to ask all the artists for detailed instructions on how to recreate their work.

This overcomes the inability Palestinians have to view international contemporary art, as most are unable to travel due to the Israeli occupation. It also brings up interesting questions of the legitimacy of art not created by the actual artist.

The list of artists includes Damien Hirst, Martin Creed, Wolfgang Tillmans and Douglas Gordon (all Turner Prize winners).

You can read an article about this exhibition here, or see some more of the works here.

The works above are There Will Be No Miracles by Nathan Coley and Your Love, My War by Simon Periton.
